University culture, the professional development of faculty, the relationship between faculty and students, the quality of personnel cultiva- tion and the university’s management efficiency are five important aspects that affect the development of a university. A conflict between a faculty cul- ture and its development lies mainly in these five aspects.
This paper pro- poses strategies university teachers can use to integrate many kinds of con- flicts stemming from the aspect of faculty culture, including: establishing a correct understanding of their own role and choices; displaying leadership regarding the direction of the university’s culture; improving their profes- sional accomplishments and the academic mission of the university; estab- lishing scientifically sound teaching practices by working toward the profes- sional development of university teachers through orientations, norms, in- centives and innovation; clarifying the essence and significance of the teacher-student relationship; ensuring a reasonable understanding and ap- plication of teachers' authority; improving university teachers’ sense of pro- fessional responsibility; and enhancing the awareness and professional ac- complishments of university teachers. Faculty consciousness of and adher- ence to a positive culture will promote the adjustment and innovation of university management idea and modes.
